Phonics Workshop

In October we held a Phonics Workshop for our Reception children’s families so that they could understand how we teach our children to read and write. Parents were invited for refreshments before going to watch their child in a live Phonics lesson. We then took parents to the hall where they heard all about how we use the Read, Write Inc phonics program to teach children the skills they need to become readers and writers. We explained how we support our children to make sure that every child makes progress by assessing them regularly and teaching them in groups according to their stage of reading. Families were told about reading at home and how they can help to support their child with their phonics.

It was fantastic to see so many families keen to support their child with their early reading and writing.
