Choosing the right school for your child is one of the most important decisions you will make as a family. At Beckfoot Allerton Primary School and Nursery, we pride ourselves on being a warm, inclusive and ambitious school where every child is known, valued and supported to thrive. We work closely with families to ensure a strong start, whether children join us in Nursery, Reception or later in their school journey.
Why families choose Beckfoot Allerton?
Reception Admissions
Each September, we welcome 45 children into our Reception class. Children usually begin full-time in the school year in which they turn five, joining a single annual intake. Reception places are allocated by Bradford Local Authority, and all applications must be made through their admissions process. It is important to note that attending our Nursery does not automatically guarantee a place in Reception, so a separate application is required. If a place is not offered, families have the right to appeal, and we are happy to signpost you to further guidance if needed. In the Summer term, we organise transition opportunities for all new starters. These are designed to help children become familiar with the setting and routines, while also giving families the chance to feel reassured and informed ahead of September.
How to Apply
All Reception applications are managed by Bradford Local Authority, not the school. This means you will need to apply online through their admissions system and ensure your application is submitted before the published deadline. You will need to:
- Visit the Bradford Local Authority admissions website
- Complete the online application form
- List Beckfoot Allerton Primary School as one of your preferences
- Submit your application before the deadline
Once applications have been processed, the Local Authority will contact you directly with the outcome. If you need any support while completing your application, please contact the school office. We are always happy to guide you through the process.
Nursery Admissions
We offer 45 Nursery places each September and maintain a waiting list throughout the year. Sessions are available 15 hours per week, delivered through a range of flexible patterns, including mornings, afternoons or a blend of full days across the week. For families who are eligible, 30 hours funded childcare is also available.
How to Apply
Nursery applications are handled directly by us. If you are interested in a place, simply contact the school office and we will talk you through availability, session options and the next steps. Before starting, families are invited to attend a taster session. This helps children become familiar with the setting and ensures a smooth and confident start.
