Year 5 visit Yorkshire Wildlife Park

On Friday, year 5 visited Yorkshire Wildlife Park. We had an amazing day seeing all the different animals and learning a little bit about them. We spoke about their habitats, how they are cared for and where in the world they would live if they were in the wild. This linked to our topic on biomes. We also discussed what the wildlife park are doing as part of conservation, as many of the animals are at risk of being extinct, due to their habitats being destroyed or no longer suitable due to climate change. The children represented our school well, asking lots of inquisitive questions and treating members of the public at the park with respect.

Our favourite animal had to be the polar bear – we watched the four bears roam around their environment and even take a swim to cool off! Other highlights included: the meerkats, giraffes, tigers and leopards. We had such an amazing day!
