We provide children with a high quality early years education in a nurturing and well-planned learning environment. Children can start in our nursery as soon as they have turned 3. Once you have registered your interest, your child can visit the nursery with a family member and have a taster session. If this is successful, children are then welcome to start straight away. Some children need a slower transition into nursery and we can work with families to ensure a successful start to school life.
Why choose Beckfoot Allerton Nursery?
Our Early Years Structure
Nursery Hours
Our nursery pupils can come to school for 15 hours or 30 hours with paid for top up sessions also available. The morning session runs from 8.30am – 11.30am; the afternoon session runs from 12.15pm – 3.15pm and children staying all day come from 8.30am – 3.15pm. Top up sessions cost £8. We have an external provider called Kanga who offer breakfast club and after school care (from 7.30am – 8.30am and 3.15pm – 5.45pm)
Lunch
Children in nursery can either bring a packed lunch or pay for a school dinner if they are staying all day. Nursery pupils eat their lunch with the reception pupils in the dining room.
Staffing
One of the benefits of attending a school nursery is that the children are taught by a qualified teacher. Miss Phillips is our nursery teacher and Early Years Leader. We also have EYFS qualified teaching assistants who support in the nursery throughout the week.
Beckfoot Allerton Early Years Curriculum
Our pupils in nursery have a book based curriculum that follows different themes throughout the year. There is a strong focus on the prime areas of learning including Personal, Social and Emotional Development (PSED), Communication and Language (CL) and Physical Development (PD). Children have free flow access indoors and outdoors as well as lessons on the carpet with the teacher. You can find out about our curriculum and how it links to the rest of the school here. We provide lots of hands on experiences including trips and visitors into the setting.
Ofsted
Ofsted inspected our Early Years in October 2022 and judged it to be ‘good’.
- “Children in the early years do well. There are lots of planned opportunities to learn both indoors and outdoors. These planned opportunities are built around themes which capture children’s imagination.”
- “Pupils are happy at school. They feel safe because staff care for them.”
- “Pupils who have special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND) learn well at this school. Pupils’ needs are identified and clear plans of support are in place.”
- “The personal development of pupils is strong. Pupils learn how to keep themselves fit and healthy.”
