Assembly – Eid Al-Adha

This week’s assembly is all about Eid Al-Adha.  We learned all about the story of Eid Al-Adha and the prophet Ibrahim who was willing to sacrifice his son to show his obedience to Allah.  However, just before Ibrahim was about to make the sacrifice, Allah swapped his son for a lamb.  Many Muslims around the world celebrate by going to Mosque, wearing their favourite clothes and eating lots of food with their families.  The house captains completed interviews of different children around school and asked them lots of questions about Eid.  We learned what people typically do, what they eat, what presents they get and any traditions that they follow.  We used this assembly as a time to reflect on our own blessings and how we can show thanks for the blessings we receive.
